NYC Hospital AHU Retrofit — EC Fan Array Completed Live in 6 Hours.
Design ≈ 9,000 CFM @ ~3″ SP. The upgrade replaces single-point failure risk with modular redundancy and lower noise.
On October 26, our field team completed another successful fan array retrofit at a New York City healthcare facility in just 6 hours—replacing legacy belt-drive assemblies with direct-drive EC technology for quieter, more efficient, and more reliable operation, with zero disruption to hospital activities.
𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀:
Phase 1 — Disconnected existing motors, demolished and removed blowers, housings, impellers, shafts, and bearings.
Phase 2 — Fabricated and installed new galvanized mounting panels; fitted three (3) direct-drive EC blowers.
Phase 3 — Installed an advanced electrical panel with three (3) overloads and Carel controller, completed full wiring and live commissioning.
𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀:
🔹 Total Airflow Capacity — ≈ 9 000 CFM @ ~3″ static pressure
🔹 Configuration — Three (3) direct-drive ebm-papst EC blowers + one extra capacity module for redundancy
🔹 Controls — Advanced panel with Carel automation and individual overload protection
🔹 Components — Backflow dampers and BFD sleeves for safe and balanced operation
🔹 Integration — Factory-balanced fan modules ensuring smooth airflow and low vibration
𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲:
The upgraded fan wall, delivered in partnership with BAIKAL MECHANICAL, now operates below nominal load, cutting energy use while maintaining design pressure and consistent airflow.
The result — a modular, redundant system engineered for long-term reliability and performance across NYC healthcare infrastructure.
𝗚𝗥𝗥 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘀 — 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗔𝗶𝗿. 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲.
